How to Start Off the Semester Strong

By: Isabella Lasneski, Blogger

It’s the start of the spring semester and you know what that means: New classes, a new schedule, a new routine! I love the saying “If you can’t beat them, join them” because it reminds me to never stay stuck in the past for too long.

Things like technology and human nature are changing so often, that change has now become our new normal. Change is inevitable so why not embrace it?

This year, join me in embracing the change that the new year has to offer. Go into your new classes excited to learn and go into each new day excited for the experience. This all starts with you and finding a rhythm that works best for you and your needs.

If you want this to work, it’s important you exercise healthy habits into your schedule. Something as simple as drinking water right when you wake up, can leave you feeling refreshed and ready to start your day.

Other examples of healthy habits to include are:

Exercising
You can accomplish this by going to the gym, doing an at home ab workout, taking a walk, or swimming laps at the pool. A wonderful investment if you don’t already have one is a yoga mat. It works to
be set up anytime you want to stretch or work on your meditation.

Meditating
Taking even ten minutes out of your day to meditate on the day you had or the day you want to have can leave you feeling relaxed and ready to take on a new day.

Keeping a Planner
Oftentimes when we try to remember too many things at once, we end up forgetting more than we remember. A planner with your own system will save you from missing that meeting or that deadline.

Change begins with you. Don’t get stuck in your old ways if it’s not benefiting you. Go out and find the change and excitement you need to bring you happiness this semester. And remember that something that works for someone else may not work for you. Keep trying to do
you, even if you’re not sure what that is yet.
