The addicting autumn ambiance consumes almost every human on this planet. From oversized warm sweaters to all things pumpkin at Starbucks, autumn is a time of the year that puts people in a cozy and nostalgic mood.
It comes as no surprise that this year’s ultimate nostalgia trip takes us back to the miraculous stone walls of Hogwarts and into the Harry Potter universe. Harry Potter has completely taken over TikTok these past couple months, inspiring creators to craft videos revolving around the beloved world of wizardry and magic.
The types of videos include aesthetics, point of views (POVs), self-insert fanfiction, movie edits and even candles at Bath & Body Works that would smell like each character. Even if you have never seen the movies, read the books or even remotely dived into this magical world, there is a 99% chance that you have seen a Harry Potter video cross your TikTok “for you page.”

Harry Potter TikTok has gotten so popular that actor Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy in the movie series, created an account to interact with fans and share his music. Fans were scared that Tom may have stumbled across some of “DracoTok,” a side of TikTok that is absolutely obsessed with Draco Malfoy, and that those videos would scare him away. Although he did start reacting to a few “DracoTok” videos by dueting them, Felton was extremely lighthearted and humorous about everything, which sent a wave of relief across the entire fandom.
This unexpected resurgence of Harry Potter has also sparked inspiration for many artists outside of TikTok. Artists are on the run making new designs and merchandise that coincides with anything remotely related to Harry Potter. Designers have used stickers, art prints, phone cases, blankets, clothing and many other art mediums to create items that will have fans begging them to restock.
There are a few artists who have created embroidery designs for each of the Hogwarts houses (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin) to stitch onto sweaters, shirts and even cardigans. Despite there being a wide array of Harry Potter art and merchandise to buy, items always seem to sell out incredibly fast. Needless to say, small businesses have been booming!
For me personally, I was incredibly fascinated by the candle scent videos that fans were creating. People went out of their way to make repeated trips to Bath & Body Works for the sole purpose of smelling candles to determine which scents align with each character.
If you do not want to rummage around TikTok in hopes of finding the right candle for your favorite character, then you’ve come to the right place. Do you want your entire room to smell like Draco Malfoy? Well then, look no further. But, good luck snagging your favorite candle before it sells out!
